Markus Frind of Plentyoffish gives high praise to Compete, a new free ranking system that competes with Alexa. Alexa numbers are easily skewed and nobody gives it 100% validity but it has been the only “rule of thumb” measurement for a long time. It’s good to see an alternative finally come along. Compete still needs some work as it only tracks US traffic and tests I’ve done with a couple of my sites are way off the mark. Compete has some useful features like number of unique visitors to the site per month, average pageviews and average session time along with a graphical comparison of up to three sites at once. Currently with an advertised two million users, you can download the toolbar here. Submitted by RL
